Men's tennis falls to LaGrange in close battle

LAGRANGE, Ga. — The Averett University men's tennis team fell short 5-4 in a conference matchup to LaGrange College.
 
LaGrange claimed all three doubles matches, but freshman James Wright clinched a win in the No. 1 singles spot, defeating Henrique Sizenando 7-5, 6-2. Junior Alex Terentiev beat Drew Cantrell 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 2 spot while sophomore Nicolas Quevedo clinched a win in the No. 3 position after dominating Mitchell Corely 6-1, 6-1. Freshman Carlos Lora also pulled out a 6-1, 6-1 win over Zach Justice in the No. 4 spot.
 
Averett (2-5, 2-3 USA South) returns to the courts on Sunday at Huntingdon College at 10 a.m.
