Box ScoreDANVILLE, Va. — Averett University men's tennis cruised past Randolph College 9-0 in non-conference play Sunday at the Averett Tennis Courts.
Averett (3-0) remained undefeated by sweeping all three doubles matches, then taking all six matches of singles play. Freshman
Oliver Lindqvist picked up a 6-1, 6-1, victory at No. 1 singles. Junior
Nicolas Quevedo and sophomores
James Wright and
Carlos Lora also won in straight sets. Freshmen
Abdugani Ganiev and
Ariel Prieto each earned their first collegiate singles victories as well.
Lindqvist and Wright teamed up for an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles to start the day. Quevedo and Ganiev won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles and freshman
Alfonso Jimenez and Lora won 8-2 in their No. 3 doubles match.
Averett opens conference play Friday when the Cougars host Methodist University at 2:30 p.m.
