DANVILLE, Va. – The Averett University women's tennis team suffered a 6-3 conference loss to Huntingdon College on Friday afternoon.
 
Averett (2-8, 0-5 USA South) snatched a win in doubles play and claimed two victories during singles with all wins coming from freshman Heidi Sarkkinen and sophomore Hannah Mattson. The duo defeated Heather Tabor and Sandy Mayson 8-2 to put Averett within one going into singles play.
 
Sarkkinen then claimed a 6-0, 6-3 win over Zoya Robinson as Mattson beat Mayson 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1 and No. 2 respectively.  
 
Averett continues conference play on Saturday, March 26 when it faces LaGrange College at 11 a.m. at the Averett Tennis Courts.
