DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University men's tennis finished up the regular season with a 9-0 non-conference victory over Hampden-Sydney College Wednesday at the Averett Tennis Courts.

Averett (13-3), getting one final tune-up before Friday's USA South Conference Tournament, rolled past Hampden-Sydney (1-12) in each of the three doubles matches. Sophomore James Wright and freshman Oliver Lindqvist earned an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles, while the tandems of junior Nicolas Quevedo/freshman Abdugani Ganiev and sophomroe Carlos Lora/freshman Ariel Prieto each won 8-2 at their respective positions.

Ranked 19th in the region, the Cougars cruised through singles play as well, with Lindqvist winning at the top spot 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Alfonso Jimenez finished off the sweep by holding off Nathan Horvit 6-4, 7-6, at No. 6 singles.

Averett, the No. 3 seed, plays No. 6 seed Ferrum College in Friday's USA South first round played in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
