Men's tennis rolls past Ferrum in USA South matchup

DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University men's tennis, ranked 19th in the South Atlantic Region, dominated USA South Conference foe Ferrum College 8-1 on Saturday at the Averett Tennis Courts.

Averett (10-3, 6-2 USA South) took a 2-1 early following doubles play. Junior Nicolas Quevedo and freshman Abdugani Ganiev teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles, while sophomore Carlos Lora and freshman Ariel Prieto combined for an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles against Ferrum (8-6, 4-4 USA South).

The Cougars swept all six singles matchs in straight sets. At No. 1 singles, freshman Oliver Lindqvist won 6-1, 6-1, and Quevedo earned a 6-1, 6-3, victory at No. 2 singles. Wright, Ganiev, Lora and freshman Alfonso Jimenez also won.

Averett travels to Greensboro College on Friday.
