DANVILLE, Va. – The Averett University women's basketball team netted a 78-64 conference win over William Peace University on Sunday afternoon at the Grant Center.
Junior guard
Frida Lundquist scored 10-of-11 consecutive points for the Cougars in the fourth quarter to help Averett (14-8, 7-4 USA South) rally past William Peace. William Peace (16-6, 8-4 USA South) worked to close the gap and put itself within two (55-53) at the 8:37 mark in the fourth period, but Averett pulled away with a 12-2 run with Lundquist's performance. She put up two career-highs of 23 points and six assists.
Junior shooting guard
Samm Chandler finished with a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds while sophomore forward
Amani Ajayi and freshman guard
Brooke Carthon added 11 points apiece to go with seven and six rebounds, respectively.
The Cougars return to the floor on Wednesday, Feb. 8, as they travel to Raleigh, North Carolina, to face Meredith College for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
