Women's tennis sweeps William Peace

RALEIGH, N.C.—The Averett University women's tennis team captured a 9-0 victory against William Peace University in conference play on Tuesday.
 
Averett (5-5, 2-0 USA South) got off to a quick start picking up wins at No.3 doubles by default. Sophomore Heidi Sarkkinen and junior Hannah Mattson won their match 8-1 at the No. 1 spot while junior Jordyn Minton and partner sophomore Ashley Thornton came out on top with an 8-4 victory.
 
Later on in the afternoon, the Cougars pulled out wins at No. 6 singles default. Junior Frida Lundquist, Mattson, Sarkkinen, Minton, and sophomore Miriam Lindberg collectively came on top with wins.  
 
The Cougars will travel to Virginia Wesleyan College on March 31 for a 3 p.m. conference match in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
