ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Averett University men's tennis team dropped a road conference match to N.C. Wesleyan College 7-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Averett (3-3, 0-2 USA South) started off with an early 2-1 lead after claiming two wins in doubles.
Caius Blomqvist and
Lauri Soome defeated Sebastian Sikh and Ionannis Brokakis 9-7 in No. 1 doubles while
Nicolas Quevedo and
Abdugani Ganiev snagged an 8-6 win in No. 3 doubles.
In No. 1 singles action, Blomqvist forced Sikh to three games after bouncing back from the first set with a 7-5 win in the second. Sikh took the win later on with a 10-3 victory in the third set.
Averett returns to action on Tuesday to host conference foe Ferrum College at 4 p.m.
