Women's tennis blows past Mary Baldwin

STAUTON, Va. – The Averett University women's tennis team secured a 9-0 conference victory win over Mary Baldwin University on Saturday afternoon.
 
Averett (7-5, 4-0 USA South) got on the board quick, cleaning up with three wins in doubles play. Sophomore Heidi Sarkkinen and junior Hannah Mattson won their match 8-3 at the No. 1 spot while junior Frida Lundquist and partner sophomore Miriam Lindberg followed with an 8-6 victory. Following doubles play were six swift victories in singles play. Junior Jordyn Minton, and Lundquist each won their matches 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3 and No.5, respectively.
 
The Cougars return to action on April 6 at 3 p.m.to face Meredith College in conference play at the Averett Tennis Courts.
