Men's tennis shuts out Greensboro on the road

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Averett University men's tennis team shut out Greensboro College 9-0 in USA South Conference action on Sunday afternoon.
 
Averett (9-4, 6-2 USA South) took a 3-0 lead in doubles play with two 8-1 wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Later on, sophomore Abdugani Ganiev was the only Cougar to defeat his opponent 6-0, 6-0, in singles and played at No. 5. In No. 1 singles, freshman Lauri Soome snagged the victory after coming out on top 6-0, 6-1.
 
Averett makes its way back to the tennis courts on Saturday to host Methodist University at 3 p.m.
