Men's tennis topples William Peace in conference play for fourth consecutive win

DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University men's tennis team won 6-3 in a conference matchup against William Peace University on Wednesday afternoon at the Averett Tennis Courts.
 
Averett (5-1, 2-0 USA South) got off to a strong start with three wins in the doubles matches. Freshman Thomas Woodcock and sophomore Mathias Reusch picked up an 8-4 victory at the No. 1 spot. Senior Carlos Lora and freshman Henry Blanco teamed up for an 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. At No.3 doubles, freshman Alvaro Jimenez and sophomore Jon Smith defeated the Pacers 8-2.
 
The Cougars claimed three wins in the singles matches, including Blanco's 6-1, 6-1, victory at No. 2 singles and Woodcock's 6-0, 6-2, victory at No. 3 singles. Lastly, Jimenez got the last victory of the day for Averett at the No.5 spot, winning 6-2, 6-2. William Peace (3-4, 2-1 USA South) won three matches in singles play.

Averett, winner of four in a row, travels to play Methodist University on Saturday.
