DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University women's tennis team captured a 9-0 victory against William Peace University in conference play on Wednesday at the Averett Tennis Courts.
 
Averett (4-1, 2-0 USA South) took all three doubles matches to start. Junior Heidi Sarkkinen and senior Hannah Mattson won their match 8-0 at the No. 1 doubles spot while junior Ashley Thornton and freshman Tyler Goad came out on top with an 8-3 victory at No. 2 against William Peace (0-4, 0-2 USA South).
 
Later on in the afternoon, the Cougars pulled out all six singles wins. Sarkkinen, Thornton and Goad all won their respective singles matchups, as well as freshmen Eleanor Crane and Carolyne Dunn. 
 
The Cougars will travel to Methodist University on March 17 for a 1 p.m. conference match in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
