DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University women's tennis made quick work of conference foe Mary Baldwin University, taking down the Fighting Squirrels 9-0 at the Averett Tennis Courts.

Averett (6-5, 3-2 USA South) swept doubles play. The tandem of junior Heidi Sarkkinen and freshman Eleanor Crane won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, while junior Ashley Thornton and freshman Carolyne Dunn also won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.

The Cougars took all six singles matches. Sarkkinen, senior Hannah Mattson, Thornton and freshman Tyler Goad all won 6-0, 6-0, against Mary Baldwin (0-7, 0-4 USA South), which only had four players travel.

Averett hosts Pfeiffer University on Friday at 2 p.m.
