GREENSBORO, N.C.—The Averett University women's tennis team captured a 9-0 victory against Greensboro College in conference play on Monday.
Averett (7-7, 4-2 USA South) got off to a quick start winning all three matches in doubles play. Junior Heidi Sarkkinen and senior Hannah Mattson won their match 8-1 at the No. 1 spot while freshmen Eleanor Crane and Carolyne Dunnand came out on top with an 8-0 victory. Junior Ashley Thornton and freshman Tyler Goad rounded up double play with an 8-2 finish.
Later on in the afternoon, the Cougars pulled out six wins in singles play. Sarkkine, Mattson, Crane, Dunn, Goad, and Thornton all helped the Cougars to its 9-0 sweep.
The Cougars will return home to face Meredith College on Wednesday, at 3p.m.
