DANVILLE, Va. — Senior
Kirsten Clancy netted her second goal of the season in women's soccer's 4-1 loss to Greensboro College Tuesday evening in USA South Conference action.
Greensboro (8-3, 2-0 USA South) managed to get on the board in the 16th minute to take an early 1-0 edge, however the Cougars would hold the deficit at 1-0 for the remainder of the opening half.
The Pride tacked on its second goal four minutes in the second half and added a third goal just under two minutes later to take a 3-0 advantage, before adding their final score in the 59th minute to take a 4-0 lead over Averett (0-11, 0-2 USA South)
However, Clancy broke the drought for the Cougars in the 85th minute, capitalizing off a Greensboro foul that gave the senior a scoring opportunity. Clancy lofted a beautifully placed free kick from the 18-yard marker that beat the goal to the far side of the net.
Sophomore
Morgann Dills played well in net for the Cougars, turning away a career best 19 shots on the evening.
Averett returns to action Saturday when it travels to Winston-Salem, North Carolina for a 2 p.m. conference meeting with Salem College.a
