SWEET BRIAR, Va. — The Averett University women's tennis team competed in Sweet Briar College's Battle of the Blue Ridge on Sunday finding six wins in each singles and doubles play.
In doubles action to open the day, the duo of sophomore
Paula Ryhsen and junior
Alejandra Garcia won their two doubles matchups 8-4 and 8-0. Freshman
Keira Gunning and senior
Inka Zeilstra also went 2-0 with an 8-7 win followed by 8-3. Junior
Nakia-Lee Goodall along with freshman
Linnea Sjostrom Krook also earned two wins in dominating fashion winning 8-0 and 8-1.
In singles play the Cougars also picked up six wins. Goodall went 2-0 winning each match in straight sets. Sjostrom Krook won her first match in straight sets before taking her second match 6-3, 7-6 (5). Garcia and Rhysen both went 1-1 in singles action after both winning their first match.
