DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University women's tennis program notched its first victory of the year 9-0 over Randolph College on Saturday afternoon at the Averett Tennis Courts.
At No. 1 singles, senior Louise Hovhammer won the first singles match of the day 6-1, 6-0.
Senior
Eleanor Crane earned 6-1, 6-0 victories at No. 2 singles.
In No. 3 singles, junior
Inka Zeilstra won 6-0, 6-0.
Freshman
Paula Ryhsen took her No. 4 singles match 6-0, 6-0 as well.
At No. 5 singles, sophomore
Alejandra Garcia earned a victory winning 6-0, 6-0.
Rounding out singles play, sophomore
Nakia-Lee Goodall won her No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-0.
Averett also dominated doubles taking every match. In No. 1 doubles, Hovhammer and Crane cruised to a 8-1 victory which was the last doubles match to conclude. At No. 2 doubles, Zeilstra and Goodall rolled to a 8-0 victory while Ryhsen and Garcia also earned a 8-0 victory at the No. 3 doubles.
The Cougars are back in action when they host Virginia Wesleyan University on March 7th at 2 p.m.
