SALISBURY, N.C. — The Averett University cross country team opened its 2021 season at the Fleet Feet XC Invitational on Saturday.
Sophomore
Anthony Ponce-Mexicano turned in the Cougars top showing in the men's 8000 meters finishing 32nd overall with a time of 28.50.4.
Senior
Michael Nichols turned in a showing of 31:50.4, while in the women's 5000 meters senior
Jahdayna Samuels turned Averett's top time of 27:44.3.
Junior
Rebekah Chase finished just ahead of senior Kayla Sico, both posting times of 30:54.1 and 31:17.0, respectively.
The Cougars return back to action on Sept. 24 when they travel to Charlotte, North Carolina for the Queens University of Charlotte.
