Cross country finishes ODAC Championships

BRIDGEWATER, Va. — Averett University cross country ran in the 2025 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday morning.

The men's team kicked off the day's action with an 8K event. Junior Azael Quintero led the men's squad once again, with a time of 31:13.1 to take home 84th-place. Freshman Brett Foley followed behind, finishing 96th with a time 34:49.8. Junior Ke'Vannio Smith rounded out Averett's entries with a 101st-place finish, crossing the line in 37:39.1. The men's team did not earn a team score as Washington and Lee University took home the team championship. 

The women's 6K got under way upon the conclusion of the men's race. Junior Gabrielle Griffin was best in show for the Cougars, finishing in 26th with a time of 24:09.4. Senior Alheli Ramos-Garcia crossed next for Averett, running her way to 59th-place in 26:23.6. Senior Kailey Gates closed out Averett's top-three with a 74th-place result, coming home in 28:39.8. The women's team did not earn a team score as Washington and Lee swept the day's team championships. 

Averett cross country's next outing will be at the NCAA South Regional in Salem, Virginia, on Saturday, Nov. 15.
