PROVIDENCE, N.C. – Averett University's IDA team finished first consecutively at its two-day home show with 17 total points on Saturday and 19 points on Sunday. Additionally, senior and team captain
Annie Morgan received Reserve High Point Rider of the show on Saturday, along with senior
Breanna Gemmell receiving Reserve High Point Rider on Sunday.
For Saturday's competition, Morgan started the day off strong winning her test at First Level. Morgan also competed at First Level in Dressage Seat Equitation (DSE), earning first place. At the Upper Training level, Gemmell placed second after completing her test. Senior
Rebecca Nelson competed at Lower Training, placing fourth after a challenging test. Nelson also competed in DSE at the Lowering Training level and placed sixth. Junior
Alex Davis was awarded second place after her test at Intro level.
Competing in Dressage Seat Equitation (DSE), freshman Iselle Longman rode at First Level, placing fourth. Riding at the Upper Training level, sophomore
Paige Johnson received second place. At Intro level, sophomore
Elyse Keeney placed third.
Riding as an individual, Longman also competed at First Level and was awarded second place after completing her test.
For the second day of the show, after a great ride at First Level, Morgan placed first once again. Gemmell held onto second place at Upper Training, along with Nelson scoring another first place for the team at Lower Training. Lastly, Davis rounded out the team competing at Intro level and placing second.
For Dressage Seat Equitation (DSE), Morgan and Longman competed at First Level, earning third and first, respectively. At Upper Training, both Johnson and Gemmell rode well, placing fourth and fifth. Keeney rode well at the Lower Training level, placing fifth. To conclude the day, Davis placed sixth at Intro level.
