ABINGDON, Va. — Averett University's equestrian program traveled to Emory & Henry University for the third IHSA show of the fall semester and was awarded Reserve Champion Team on Saturday at the two-day event.
On Saturday, junior
Megan McClelland-Clayton started the day off by taking fifth place in Open over fences. Sophomore
Carly Williams had a lovely ride and took third for Intermediate over fences. Sophomores
Audrey Beckhardt and Elize Idén had wonderful rides in Limit over fences, taking first and third, respectively. Next were the flat classes. Senior
Paige Zischke rode beautifully and took third in the Open flat. McClelland-Clayton had a technical ride and placed fifth in the Intermediate flat. Williams rode well and received third in the Intermediate flat. Freshman
Katelyn Rufert had a solid ride, taking sixth in Limit flat. Idén and sophomore
Mackenzie Joy rode well and placed second and fourth, respectively. Sophomore
Ashlee Study and freshman
Morgan Mockabee both had solid rides, taking second and third, respectively, in Novice flat. Freshman Kadence Bone had a lovely ride, earning second in Introductory flat.
On Sunday, McClelland-Clayton had a solid ride, placing fifth in Open over fences. Williams rode well and placed fifth in Intermediate over fences. Idén rode beautifully, placing second in Limit over fences. Beckhardt had a technical ride, taking reserve in Limit over fences. Zischke rode very well, placing second in the Open flat. Williams and McClelland-Clayton put in a good effort and both received 6th in the Intermediate flat. Idén rode well and took second in the limit flat. Joy and Rufert had good rides, placing third and fifth in Limit flat, respectively. Study and Freshman Kylie Channel rode well, taking third and fifth in Novice flat, respectively. Bone had a great ride, receiving second in Introductory flat.
