LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Averett University men's tennis program cruised past Randolph College with a 9-0 win Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars rolled Saturday afternoon winning every match and earned two wins by default. At No. 1 singles, senior
Stan Martherus earned a victory winning 2-6, 6-2, and 10-7 in the last set.
The rest of the Cougars rolled in straight sets in singles action with Freshman
Shori Nishizoe, sophomore
Maksim Sukhomlinov, sophomore
Josh Bottrell and sophomore
Philipp Bohnenkamp all earned wins for the Cougars.
The Cougars were able to sweep Randolph in doubles action to begin the day. Each match was won in dominant fashion as the duo of sophomore
Rufus Nurminen and freshman
Martinho Goncalves won their No. 1 doubles match 8-1. At No. 2 doubles, junior
Evgeniy Bogdasaryan and freshman
Jay Trip also earned a win.
The Cougars are back in action when they travel to Guilford College on Feb 27 at 1 p.m.
