RALEIGH, N.C. — The Averett University women's basketball program is back in the win column after a 77-62 victory over William Peace University on Wednesday Night inside the Herman Athletic Center.
Averett (5-17, 5-10 USA South) was led by sophomore
Shunte Bethea who tallied a career-high with 24 points while also adding six rebounds and two steals. Bethea hit on nine of her last 10 field goals from the field. The Cougars spread the wealth as senior
Genesis Weiters earned a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while sophomore
Talia Prosper dropped 16 points.
William Peace (3-19, 2-14 USA South) headed into the half down by eight after being out scored by the Cougars 20-11 in the first quarter.
The Pacers fought hard in the third to cut the lead to five before beginning the final quarter of play. Averett closed out the game by winning the fourth quarter by 10 points, 25-15.
Averett is back in action tomorrow when they host Salem College at 6 p.m.
