GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Averett University men's tennis program rolled past Guilford College 7-2 on Tuesday Afternoon at McMichael Courts.
Sophomores,
Josh Bottrell and
Philipp Bohnenkamp, along with junior
Evgeniy Bogdasaryan, all won in straight sets during their singles match ups for the Cougars.
Freshman
Shori Nishizoe picked up a win for the Cougars at No 1. singles in exciting fashion after dropping the first set. Nishizoe won 6-7, 6-3, 10-7 which proved to be the only singles match to end in a decisive third set.
Averett (4-3) swept Guilford (4-2) in doubles action as Bogdasaryan and sophomore
Maksim Sukhomlinov won at No. 1 doubles while Bohnenkamp and sophomore
Rufus Nurminen earned the win at No. 2 doubles in the tightest doubles match of the day, winning 8-7. In No. 3 doubles, sophomore
Josh Bottrell and sophomore
Aleki Gomez won 8-3.
The Cougars are back in action when they travel to Hampden-Sydney College Friday at 2 p.m.
