FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Averett University men's tennis knocked off Methodist University 7-2 on conference road action Saturday to help the Cougars clinch the No. 2 seed in the USA South Conference East Division.
Averett (12-4, 6-1 USA South) will face West Division No. 3 seed LaGrange College in the USA South Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday in Rome, Georgia.
Saturday's win helped the Cougars solidify the No. 2 seed, which helped them avoid a three-way tie for second place. Averett did it on dominating fashion against a strong team from Methodist (10-9, 4-3 USA South).

Jay Trip won their No. 2 doubles match 8-7 (7-4) and senior

Shori Nishizoe picked up an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
