Women's golf's Tamburstuen nets top-15 finish at Historic Triangle Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Averett University women's golf freshman Lilli Caroline Tamburstuen improved her score by 10 strokes to help her jump into a top-15 finish Tuesday at the Historic Triangle Intercollegiate hosted by Christopher Newport University at Williamsburg National Golf Club.

Tamburstuen, who shot an opening-round 16-over-par 88 on the par-72, 5,653-yard course on Monday, followed that up with a 6-over 78 during the final round to place 15th at 22-over in the 36-person field. Averett senior Cameron Stamm also improved her first round score by seven strokes on her way to a 24th-place finish.

University of Lynchburg's Emily Brubaker earned medalist honors after finishing the tournament at 3-over to win by one stroke over Drew University's Kayla Diaz. Lynchburg won the tournament as a team, edging Bridgewater College by one stroke.

Averett's final tournament of the spring will be at the USA South Conference Championship held April 18-20 in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
