FOREST, Va.
— The Averett University women's volleyball team was picked fourth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's preseason poll, which was unveiled Monday. The Cougars enter into their inaugural season in the ODAC this fall.
Averett went 24-8 (13-5) in its final season in the USA South Athletic Conference in 2021, including a 3-0 win over 2022 ODAC preseason favorite Washington and Lee University. The Generals received the maximum number of first-place votes with 12 to lead the poll, with Virginia Wesleyan University picked second with one first-place vote. Randolph-Macon College was voted third, followed by Averett and Bridgewater College to round out the top five.
Averett opens its season
— its first under new head coach
Olivia Earls — on Sept. 2 at home in the 28th annual Cougar Classic. Averett's first ODAC action comes Sept. 15 against Hollins University.
