FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Averett University men's soccer fell to Methodist University 3-1 on the road Monday night.
In the 60th minute, Methodist (4-1-3) earned the first goal of the match when Charlie Teachey struck the ball past the goalkeeper after he was set up by fellow Monarch Hudson Zeisman to put the team ahead 1-0 over Averett (2-5-3).
The Monarchs found the net again after a goal in the 66th minute from Zeisman, which extended their lead to 2-0.
Methodist scored their final goal of the match in the 71st minute after Matt Brown sent the ball into the net, assisted by David Ospina to increase the deficit to 3-0.

The Cougars are back in action on Wednesday when they face conference opponent Eastern Mennonite University at 5:30 p.m. on Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.
