ASHLAND, Va. — Averett men's soccer earned a 2-2 draw against non-conference opponent Eastern Connecticut State University in a neutral site game held Saturday at Randolph-Macon College.
Averett (0-0-2) sophomore Moises Garcia and senior Hayden Brown both found the back of the net in the match for the Cougars. In the 21st minute of the match, Garcia struck first with his second goal of the season, giving Averett the lead early on 1-0.
In the 32nd minute, Logan Brennan answered back with a goal of his own, which allowed Eastern Connecticut (0-0-1) to tie the match 1-1.
In the 39th minute of the match, Averett found itself ahead yet again after Brown found the back of the net — assisted Garcia — giving Averett a 2-1 lead.
However, in the 76th minute, the Warriors' Andres Mayuri tied up the match 2-2. It remained knotted the rest of the way.
Averett junior goalkeeper Tyler Yates had two saves in the contest.
Averett returns home to play Greensboro College on Sept. 6 at 6 p.m.
