DANVILLE Va. – Averett University men's soccer drew even with Johnson & Wales University (N.C.) 2-2 on Tuesday night for its Senior Day on Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.
Averett (5-3-7, 2-2-4 ODAC) was down 2-1 in the 87th minute until
Hayden Brown found himself with another penalty kick opportunity this season. Brown ran up to the ball, faked left and launched the ball into the right side of the net to even the score 2-2.
Johnson & Wales (12-0-3) scored in the sixth minute to take an early 1-0 lead. Junior
Anton Lindberg brought the score even when he managed to score a header off of a corner kick, he was assisted by freshman
Max Gaudry and senior
Sebastian Weijdegaard off of a deflection. Johnson and Wales came out ahead again late in the match to lead the Cougars 2-1.
The Cougars are back in action when they travel to face Shenandoah University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
