DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University women's volleyball made quick work of Hollins University with a 3-0 conference win Tuesday night in the Cougars' final Old Dominion Athletic Conference regular season match in the Grant Center.
Averett (13-12, 7-5 ODAC) cruised by scores of 25-10, 25-12 and 25-13 to beat Hollins (5-22, 0-12 ODAC) for the second time this season.
The Cougars jumped out to a 15-6 lead in the opening set to set the tone. Hollins' lone lead of the entire match came on the opening point of the second set. Hollins hung around early in the third set before Averett pulled away midway through.
Senior
Emma Nash had a team-high 10 kills and hit .563 with four blocks, with senior
Destiny McIntosh adding seven kills, a .500 hitting percentage and two blocks for the Cougars. Senior
Erin Gray had a team-best 12 digs and sophomore
Dayton Moore had 13 assists. Junior
Kayleigh Gentry and freshman
Kadence Woodlief each finished with three service aces as 15 Cougars saw action in the match.
Averett plays its final home matches of the regular season on Saturday when the Cougars face No. 7 Emory University and No. 22 University of Mary Washington in a tri-match beginning at 11 a.m.
