DANVILLE, Va. - Averett University women's basketball fell to Washington and Lee University 86-67 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.
After trailing by just eight points at halftime, Averett (1-3, 0-1 ODAC) kept Washington and Lee (2-0, 1-0 ODAC) [RV] close the majority of the second half until the defending ODAC champions used an offensive surge to push past the Cougars. This marks the second time this season Averett has played closed with a team receiving national recognition.

Kiera Perkins shined as she scored a team and career-high 15 points while bringing down a team-best six rebounds along with fellow freshman

Skylar Jones chipped in 12 points for her season-best. Sophomore

Talia Prosper each pulled five rebounds for the Cougars.
For the Generals reigning National Freshman of the Year, Mary Schueusner drained 33 points, brought down 16 rebounds while adding four blocks to lead Washington and Lee.Â
As a team, Averett had 41 rebounds, shot 33.3 percent from field goal range and shot 23.5 percent from three-point range. Defensively, Averett forced the Generals to turn the ball over 22 times while having eight steals.Â
