FOREST, Va.
— The Averett University men's lacrosse team was selected 11th in the 2023 Old Dominion Athletic Conference's preseason poll, which was unveiled Tuesday. The Cougars enter into their inaugural season in the ODAC after spending their first five years as a program in the USA South Athletic Conference.
Averett went 4-11 overall with a 1-8 mark in the USA South last season, picking up the program's first conference victory against Huntingdon College on Senior Day.
Defending ODAC Tournament champion University of Lynchburg was picked as the favorite to win the league this spring with 10 first-place votes after appearing in the NCAA Second Round last season. Washington and Lee University, which garnered two first-place votes was voted second and Roanoke College was ranked third. Those two programs also made an NCAA appearance last spring.
Averett opens its season
at non-conference foe Warren Wilson College on Feb. 18 at 2 p.m.
