DANVILLE, Va. - Averett University men's tennis defeated Shenandoah University 8-1 at home on Saturday to pick up its 10th win of the season.

Rufus Nurminen teamed up to take down Jovan Cirkovic and Artem Babaiev 8-5 at the #1 slot. Sophomore
Shori Nishizoe and senior
Jorge Figueroa rolled past Dominick Suwak and Keith Orr 8-2 at #2. Freshmen duo of
Kazuki Fukushima and
Theodor Garmo swept Jonathan Clippinger and Tyler Deal 8-0 at #3.
At #1 singles Nishizoe picked up a 6-2, 1-6, 10-6 win over Cirkovic, Figueroa topped Babaiev 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 at #2.
Freshman
Prabjeet Chandhok rolled past Orr 6-3. 6-4 at #4 and
Kazuki Fukushima took down Clippinger 6-1, 6-0 at #5.
Junior
Philipp Bohnenkamp swept Tristen Propes 6-0, 6-0 at #6 singles.
Averett is back in action on Sunday against Virginia Wesleyan University at home at 10 a.m.
