LYNCHBURG, Va. — Averett University women's lacrosse pulled away over the final three quarters for a 23-9 conference road victory at Randolph College on Sunday.

Averett (9-2. 4-2 ODAC) was in a tight battle against Randolph (4-9, 0-6 ODAC) throughout a back-and-forth first quarter in which the Cougars led 7-5. However, Averett scored seven consecutive goals to open the second quarter and put some distance on the WildCats before taking a 15-6 advantage into halftime.
The Cougars tacked on three goals in the third quarter and five more in the fourth while allowing just three total goals after the half on their way to another conference win.
Graduate student
Elizabeth Peasley, who became NCAA Division III women's lacrosse's all-time leading goal scorer on Wednesday, scored nine goals for the second game in a row while adding three assists for a team-high 12 points. Meanwhile, sophomore
Faith Bowlin scored six goals with a team-high 13 draw controls and senior
Kelsey Steckroth added a hat trick with three goals for the Cougars. Senior
Raven Felder scored twice and made two assists, junior
Irenia Torre had two goals and freshman
Amanda Antoine had a goal as well for Averett. Sophomore
Rachel Rios matched Peasley with a team-high three assists and freshman
Emma Miller notched an assist.
Junior Kaylee Joblin made six saves in goal while earning the win before freshman
Caitlin Alperstein finished off the game in net with two saves over the final 15 minutes.
Peasley now has 380 career goals, which is the most among all three NCAA divisions.
Averett travels to No. 17 Roanoke College on Tuesday for another ODAC matchup.
