DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University football program has unveiled its 2023 schedule with game times. The slate features 10 games, including seven Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchups and five home games on Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.

"I am excited about our second season in the ODAC," head coach Patrick Henry said. "Our returners have an understanding on what it will take to compete in this conference. We had a great offseason and have taken great strides."

Season tickets and tailgating spots for home games are on sale now.

Averett kicks off its season on the road Sept. 2 at 1 p.m. against non-conference foe Apprentice School in Newport News, Virginia. 

The Cougars begin their home slate when they host non-conference opponent Greensboro College on Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. for their Cougar Carnival day. After that, Averett is on the road on Sept. 16 against Brevard College at 6 p.m. Last season, the Cougars defeated the Tornados 23-6 at home.

The Cougars begin ODAC play on Sept. 30 when they host Washington and Lee University at 3 p.m. for Family Day and their annual food truck rodeo.  Next, Averett is on the road when it faces Randolph-Macon College on Oct. 7 at 1 p.m.

Averett hosts Hampden-Sydney College on Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. for its Homecoming Weekend. The Cougars remain at home to matchup against Bridgewater College on Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. and will host a band fest that day.

The Cougars face Shenandoah University away on Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. and play at Guilford College on Nov. 4 at 3 p.m.

In the last game of the season, Averett faces longtime rival Ferrum College at home for its Senior Day and Military Appreciation Day on Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. The Cougars took down the Panthers last season on the road, winning 24-20 on the road.
