CARY, N.C. — Averett University men's soccer tied William Peace University 2-2 in the 89th minute on Friday night.
With the last minute winding down, junior Anton Lindberg booted the ball into the back of the net following a pass from junior Jonthomas Buckley to even the contest.
Averett (0-0-1, 0-0 ODAC) struck first in the match with a goal from redshirt senior Daniel Starr in the 20th minute of play.
William Peace (0-0-1, 0-0 USA South) tied the match after Junior Roque scored off of an assist from Ethan Gillette.
The Pacers took the lead after Josiah Caronna found the back of the net in the 71st minute.
Averett went 9-16 for shots on goal. Senior Tyler Yates had 4 saves in the match.
The Cougars are back in action on Sept. 3 when they travel to face Greensboro College on Sunday at 4 p.m.
