GREENSBORO, N.C. — Averett University men's soccer defeated Greensboro College 4-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Averett (1-0-1, 0-0-0, ODAC) was even 2-2 with Greensboro until junior
Jonthomas Buckley booted the ball into the back of the net during a penalty kick to give the Cougars a one-goal advantage.
Greensboro (0-2-0, 0-0-0 USA South) scored in the 24th minute following a goal from Craig Thomas to lead the Cougars 1-0.
Sebastian Weijdegaard tied the game up following an assist from fellow senior
Alexander Soerensen in the 39th minute of play to tie the match 1-1.
Averett took the lead after senior
Agustin Jaraba netted a goal in the 57th minute of play off of a pass from junior
Moises Garcia. Greensboro scored in the 64th minute to tie things up once more. Jaraba finished the job in the 84th minute, scoring off of an assist from freshman
Joshua Garcia.
The Cougars are back in action on Wednesday when they are on the road to face Division I Davidson College at 7 p.m.
