Cross country finishes Royals Challenge

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Averett University cross country finished the Queens University Royals Cross Country Challenge on Friday.

The women took to the course first, as the 5K event kicked off just after 5 p.m. Sophomore Gabrielle Griffin led the way for the Cougars, crossing the line in 20:41.58 for a 136th place finish. Junior Alheli Ramos-Garcia followed, with a time of 21:32.35. Junior Kailey Gates was the third place finisher for Averett, with a 22:43.70 time.

Averett's men ran an 8K and finished in 21st place overall. Freshman Hunter Moss once again paced the Cougars with a time of 27:02.59, good for a 136th place result. Senior Jaden Carter crossed second with a time of 32:01.80. Sophomore Azael Quintero rounded out Averett's top three, crossing the line with a time of 32:47.10.

Averett cross country gets back on the track for the Roanoke College XC Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 10:30 a.m.
