DANVILLE, Va. - Averett University women's volleyball battled back from a 2-0 deficit to secure its fourth conference win with a 3-2 victory in five sets against Eastern Mennonite University at home on Saturday for their annual pink-out game promoting breast cancer awareness.
Eastern Mennonite (6-10, 1-5 ODAC) had a hot start, taking Set 1 and Set 2 25-21 and 25-20, respectively. Averett (9-10, 4-2 ODAC), with its back against the wall, won three consecutive sets to take the match in thrilling fashion. Averett won 25-19 and 25-23 to force the deciding fifth set, which the Cougars took 15-11.

Emily McIntosh led the team with 21 kills and junior
Dayton Moore led in assists with 32. Graduate student
Emma Nash also had herself a day, totaling 17 kills. Fifth-year
Destiny McIntosh contributed 27 of the team's 68 total kills. Fifth-year libero
Erin Gray led the Cougar defense with 31 digs while Moore had 15.
Averett travels to Salem, Virginia, on Wednesday for a conference matchup against Roanoke College.
