HIGH POINT, N.C — Averett University traveled to High Point University for the first Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) show of the semester on Saturday and Sunday. Averett was awarded Reserve Champion Team on Sunday.
On Saturday, senior
Paige Johnson rode in a very competitive in Open Fences, placing fourth. In Intermediate Fences, sophomore
Megan McClelland-Clayton had a challenging ride, placing fifth. Ending the Over Fences classes, freshman Carly Williams rode at Limit and had a very strong ride, earning second place.
Next up was Flat Classes. Johnson kicked it off with a good ride at Open level, earning second place. For Intermediate Flat, McClelland-Clayton had a challenging ride, placing fourth. Freshman Audrey Beckhardt rode very well for her first show in Limit Flat. Next ride was at Novice, freshman Ashlee Study rode well and placed fourth. Sophomore Allison White had a tough round and received fifth place for her efforts in Pre-Novice. At Introductory level, sophomore
Abby Sander had a difficult ride, placing fourth.
On Sunday, Johnson started with a solid ride in Open Fences, placing fourth. McClelland-Clayton had a great ride in Intermediate Fences, earning second place. For Limit Fences, Williams had a good ride receiving third place.
To end the day were Flat Classes. Johnson rode in a very competitive class earning second place in Open. Next was McClelland-Clayton in Intermediate Flat, she had a good ride, placing third. Williams had a great ride in Limit Flat, earning second place. Freshman Elize Idén and Study rode at Novice Level with pleasant rides, placing second and third respectively. Sander ended the rides with a fantastic ride at Introductory level, taking home first place.
