Equestrian's IHSA team competes at Emory & Henry

ABINGDON, Va. — Averett University's IHSA team traveled to Emory & Henry University for the second IHSA show of this fall semester on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, senior Paige Johnson had a challaning ride in Open Fences, placing sixth. Sophomore Megan McClelland-Clayton rode in Intermediate Fences with a good ride, receiving third. In Limit Fences, freshman Carly Williams and Audrey Beckhardt competed. Beckhardt had a great ride earning second place. Williams had a technical ride, placing sixth.

Moving onto Flat Classes: Johnson started off in the Open Level in a very competitive class earning third. For Intermediate McClelland-Clayton had a nice ride placing third. Williams had a more difficult ride in Limit Flat, placing sixth. At Novice Level were freshmen Ashlee Study and Elize Idén had great rides, both earning second. Riding at Introductory Level was sophomore Abby Sander, she put in a good effort, placing fourth.

On Sunday, McClelland-Clayton headed off the day with a great ride placing third in Intermediate Fences. Williams had a lovely ride in Limit Fences earning third, also in this division was Beckhardt with a technical ride placing fifth.

Closing out the weekend was Flat Divisions: Johnson had a very nice ride in Open Flat, earning third. In Intermediate Flat McClelland-Clayton had a challenging ride placing fourth. In Limit Flat Williams had a great ride earning second place. In Novice Flat, Idén had a beautiful ride earning first place. Also in Novice, Study had a solid ride receiving fourth. At Introductory Sander had a pleasant ride, earning second place.
