Game Notes: Averett vs. Randolph
The Series: Averett and Randolph have met each other 14 times, but the Cougars hold the series advantage, 9-5. Last time the teams met, the WildCats won in Danville, 59-34 on Jan. 27. Randolph has won the last three contests dating back to 2023.
Averett at a Glance: Freshman 
DaiShaundria Giggetts broke her career-high in points once more with 25, but Averett University women's basketball was bested by visiting Guilford College, 99-68, in the conference opener for both squads. Guilford pulled away through the final two quarters, despite the continued effort from Averett. Outscored 43-35 in the second half only, the Cougars' first half struggles proved enough for the Quakers to win their conference opener, 99-68. The freshman Giggetts posted yet another career-high game in her first year of collegiate basketball, scoring the second-most points among all players, only trailing Zoe Bayer of the Quakers, with 25. Giggetts made eight of 15 field goals, adding on five steals, five assists and four rebounds. 
Zariia America recorded 13 points, and 
Brianna Sams was the other Averett player in double-digits, with 11. Sams and Ifidon led in rebounds with seven, and 
Emma Jones recorded a block for the Cougars. Despite trailing in total rebounds, Averett tied Guilford in offensive rebounds, with 19 for each squad. As a team, the Cougars posted their highest assist total in a game, with 12.
Randolph at a Glance: The Randolph College women's basketball team put together a dominant performance, cruising to a 76-35 victory over Greensboro College on Sunday afternoon at Giles Gymnasium, improving the WildCats' record to 5-2 on the season. Randolph College dominated the second half, showcasing consistent offensive and defensive performance to extend their lead against Greensboro. Strong defensive presence and fast-paced scoring led by Jasmin Williams' three-pointer and key plays from others. As the fourth quarter progressed, Randolph maintained control with significant contributions from bench players like Kamora Lewis and Simone Brown, culminating in extended leads through quick transitions and sharp shooting. Randolph's depth was a significant factor, with the bench contributing 30 points compared to Greensboro's 7. Leading the way for Randolph was Stark, who tallied 16 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Crenshaw-Patterson added 13 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists for a near triple-double in a strong all-around performance. Pabon and Imani Hardin added eight points each and Jackson had seven and Lewis with six from three-pointers in the fourth quarter. The WildCats controlled the boards, grabbing 57 rebounds, including 18 on the offensive end, which led to 17 second-chance points.
