BELMONT, N.C. — Averett University men's tennis lost 5-2 to Division II Belmont Abbey College on Thursday.
Averett (0-4) picked up a team point by taking two of the three doubles matches. At No. 2 doubles, sophomore
Kazuki Fukushima and junior
Jaeden Mukkaladyil won 6-4, while the tandem of sophomore
Sam Egui and sophomore
Martin Guyot won 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.
Belmont Abbey (15-9), however, won five of the six singles matches to steal the win despite several tight matches including a battle at No. 2. Sophomore
Prabjeet Chandhok won his No. four singles match, 7-5, 4-6, 10-3.
Averett's next match is Saturday at Randolph College.
