DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University men's tennis defeated Division II Johnson C. Smith University 7-2 on Tuesday at the Averett Tennis Courts.
Averett (2-4) won all three points in doubles play against Johnson C. Smith (0-6). The duo of junior
Alex Donnelly and sophomore
Prabjeet Chandhok pulled out a big 8-7 (7-3) win at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore
Kazuki Fukushima and freshman
Alex Rudy won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, junior
Jaeden Mukkaladyil lost his first set 6-4, but then battled back to win the next two sets 6-4 and 6-4 to win at No. 1. Although Averett lost at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, freshman
Gero Siebert and senior
Philipp Bohnenkamp won in straight sets at No. 4 and No. 5 to help seal the win.
Averett travels to Shenandoah University for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
