DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University men's tennis gave senior
Philipp Bohnenkamp a memorable Senior Day as the Cougars swept Bridgewater College 9-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action Friday at the Averett Tennis Courts.
Bohnenkamp and his doubles partner, sophomore
Prabjeet Chandhok, won 8-5 in a battle at No. 3 singles to help Averett (5-7, 4-2 ODAC) complete the sweep of doubles play to open the match against Bridgewater (3-9, 0-6 ODAC). Averett also got an 8-1win at No. 1 doubles from junior
Jaeden Mukkaladyil and freshman
Gero Siebert and an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles from sophomores
Sam Egui and
Alex Donnelly.
In singles play, freshman
Gero Siebert won 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3, and sophomore
Kazuki Fukushima clinched the win with a victory at No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Averett also earned straight-set wins from freshman
Alex Rudy at No. 2, sophomore
Martin Guyot and No. 4, freshman
Fredrik Friberg at No. 5 and Bohnenkamp at No. 6. Bohnenkamp, the lone senior who was honored before the match, won his singles battle 6-0, 6-1.
Averett travels to Guilford College on Sunday.
