ELON, N.C. – Averett University's cross country program wrapped up a trip to Elon, North Carolina, with solid performances from both the men's and women's squad.
Freshman
Hunter Moss paced Averett's men. Moss placed 54th in a field filled to the brim with stiff competition. The Cougars' freshman finished the 6K event with a time of 21:05.6. Senior
Jaden Carter finished next for Averett with a time of 25:48.8, and sophomoreÂ
Azael Quintero rounded out the top three finishers for the men's team.Â
Sophomore
Gabrielle Griffin carried the torch for the Cougars' women's team. Griffin placed 52nd in the 4K race with a time of 16:47.0. JuniorÂ
Alheli Ramos-Garcia crossed the line next for Averett, following close behind with a time of 17:11.0. Junior
Kailey Gates closed out the top three for Averett on the women's side, as she logged a race time of 19:08.7.
Averett's women finished the event in eighth, ahead of Old Dominion Athletic Conference rivals, Guilford College. The men's team returns home with a ninth-place result, falling just behind Shaw University in their effort to match the result posted by the women.
Averett cross country has a short break before returning to action at the Pfeiffer University Invitational on Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. from Misenheimer, North Carolina.
