WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Three Cougars finished inside the top 10 as Averett University women's golf placed fourth overall Monday at The Melee hosted by Premier Collegiate Tournaments at Ford's Colony Country Club. The Cougars shot a collective 108-over-par on the par-72, 5,552-yard Blue Heron Course over two days.
Senior
Sophia Marshall was Averett's top finisher in sixth place after shooting a 20-over 164 over 36 holes. Senior
Madison Masoudpour moved up during the final round to finish tied for seventh at 22-over, while sophomore
Meredith Pegram tied for ninth at 24-over. Senior
Hannah Walton and junior
Cooper Perryman each finished tied for 31st at 45-over.
Pfeiffer University's Kristyn Page and Drew University's Josephine Nguyen tied for the top score individually as both shot 3-over to finish 10 strokes in front of the rest of the field.
Drew jumped to the top of the leaderboard in the team standings on the final day to edge Pfeiffer and Shenandoah University by one stroke with a 95-over 671. The Cougars slipped from a tie from first entering Monday's final round to fourth in the field of eight.
The event was Averett's final tournament of the fall season.
