Bridgewater, Va. — Averett University women's volleyball fell in straight sets to Bridgewater College during a road conference match on Friday.
The Eagles (12-4, 5-1 ODAC) defeated the Cougars (2-11, 0-5 ODAC) and secured their fourth consecutive conference win with scores of 25-22, 25-14 and 25-22.
Leadership led by example for Averett as captains, junior Sydney Mounce and senior Dayton Moore led with 12 kills and 15 assists respectively. Freshman setter Alyssa Hatcher added 12 assists.
On the defense, Moore had 11 digs while sophomore libero Kyleigh Rains had nine.
The Cougars travel to Lexington, Virginia on Saturday to face nationally ranked Washington and Lee University at 11 a.m. and Christopher Newport University at 1:30 p.m.
