DANVILLE, Va. – Averett University cross country released its five-meet fall schedule for the 2026 campaign.

The Cougars head to Winchester, Virginia, opening up the season at the Shenandoah University South Regional Preview on Sept. 19. Their next event takes place on Oct. 9, as Averett will participate in the Queens University Royals XC Challenge in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

"I am excited for this fall's cross-country season, with some strong returners coming back," director of cross country/track and field Annika Seuschek noted. "I'm expecting some big things from some of our returners, such as Brett Foley and Sara Beth Garrett. I'm thrilled to see how some of our incoming freshman fit in with our team as the practice starts this August!"

Roanoke College is the next destination for the Cougars, at the Roanoke College Invitational on Oct. 17. At the tail-end of the month, Averett competes in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Shenandoah, on the 31st. 

Postseason runs continue at the NCAA South Regional on Nov. 14 in Earlysville, Virginia. The fall season will conclude over in Carleton, Minnesota at the NCAA Championships, hosted by Carleton College.
